Cinderella

Julie had her first play performances last night at Town Hall Theatre -- she was great! She remembered her lines, did ballroom and other fancy dancing, and sang. Gina was in tears 2 minutes into it, of course.

Tree Swing

Enjoying the great, warm weather two days after a drawn out week of rain and a final large hail, thunder & lightening storm.  Bike rides to the park & tree swings have never felt better!

Easter Festivities

Had Grandmom, Uncle(s) Dan, Len, and John, Aunt Janine, and cousins Joe and Gracie on the Martin side over for Easter brunch.  There was a lot of activity - rollerblading (Julie), scootering,  trail walking,  munching, and ping pong!  Uncle John is defending/visiting champion…wait until next time…

Hummingbird

This guy flew into our window yesterday and sat stunned for 10-15 minutes before taking off for a nearby tree. Notice Julie's outfit for Easter (her choice)...

Spring Break in Sea Ranch

On Wednesday we headed up to Sea Ranch for four days. It was their first time playing tennis -- on a beautiful court overlooking the ocean -- and we had enough wind to fly kites in front of our house. In between long bouts of eating and reading, we found a nearby beach with a stairwell that ended to a large rock right next to a small waterfall. Very nice! The swimming pool next to the tennis courts was a little chilly, but nothing a dip in the hot tub couldn't fix. Other highlights were building jails for the small black sand spiders, watching the hawks circle the fields, and reading all the Garfield books we brought from the library.

Carmel Anniversary Getaway

The weekend before spring break, we dropped off the kids at John & Janine's house and continued down to Carmel Valley for a rare overnighter. By the time we drove up to Bernardus Lodge, the downpour had stopped (temporarily), only to be replaced by a cold, hard wind. We did everything we can't normally do -- long soak in the "warming pool" and spa, a 3-hour seven course dinner at Marinus, and sleeping in the next day. The highlight was definitely the dinner -- amazing food, our anniversary printed on the menu, the huge fireplace, the wines, and the walk back to our room during another downpour. After a drive down the coast (too windy & cold for our planned hike), we headed back toward home.
