Playground Fiber

Nate launched off the swing, face first, resulting in a scarred up nose and bloody mouth. So we rented a large flatbed dumptruck and loaded up with 3.5 sq. yds. of wonderful, soft playground fiber (mulch). It only took a week, with small helpers, to line our backyard play area.

Children's Fairyland

An Oakland institution that Gina remembers from her childhood. Unfortunately the train wasn't working, but we enjoyed the day regardless. Highlights included two rides, a puppet show, a long scary slide, and ice cream treats.

First Dentist Trips

Nate and Julie now see "Dr. Nick" -- recommended highly by other Googlers -- and both did great on their first checkups. Julie had no cavities (and loved having her finger twirled on the cleaning tool), and Nate..well, is cutting back on his favorite dried cranberries and is flossing more.

Japanese Tea Garden

On Sunday we drove to the San Francisco Golden Gate Park to see the Japanese Tea Garden. The highlights were the large bridges and the golden carp swimming lazy circles. Afterwards we took a driving tour of SF, including a fun trip down the twisty Lombard Street.
