They're getting bigger

We've started taking the chickens outside to stretch their legs and introduce them to grass and bugs. Nate is a natural chicken herder and Julie's method is to get them to sleep in her lap.

Kindergarten fieldtrip

The last kindergarten field trip of the year was out in Brentwood, 45 minutes east on the other side of Mt. Diablo. We lucked out with gorgeous weather, but at lunchtime found an animal had eaten some of the lunches.

First Grade Fieldtrip

Last fieldtrip of the year -- the Oakland Zoo. I was down with strep throat, so Gina pitched in and helped chaperone the monkeys.

Lafayette Earth Day

The weather cooperated for a warm and fun Earth Day in Lafayette on Sunday. It was a big event: 30 piece jazz band, 400 crafts made in the recycling art room, fourteen non-profits, animals (snakes, tarantula, hawk), movie showings, and children's book readings. Nate and Julie were real troopers thoughout the whole event, helping out with set up and making sure everything was put into its proper place when we left and hauling the recycling bins. I'm just glad this happens only once a year.
