Praying Mantis

They hatched! Out of one of our two egg sacks (purchased from a nursery) hatched yesterday and close to 100 baby praying mantises were found squirming around their jar. Gina's index finger is shown in contrast -- they are tiny. We've been putting them around the garden in our never ending quest to keep our garden "green".

Olloliberry

On Saturday we went olloliberry picking out in Brentwood. It's still early in the season -- and even the pilfered apricots were a wee bit crunchy -- but we found enough for pie. And almost the same amount consumed in the field.

Sports

Nate and Julie's first official sports: Nate's doing basketball and Julie soccer. And both are held mercifully close to our house at the Lafayette Rec center around the corner. While not every kid on the team always remembers which direction he or she is going, I'm impressed by the full-out running and intensity of their playing.

Katherine visit

We were honored with a visit from Nate & Julie's cousin from the north, Katherine (and family). Despite rain and cold, we took our inaugural swim in the pool and did one day in Berkeley to visit the vivarium and Pyramid Brewing.
