Preschool Graduation
On Thursday we watched Nate's graduation at Beresford Montesorri. Thirty five kids, including Nate's good friends Benjamin and Liam, had a little cap/gown ceremony, sang a song, individually stood up and announced their kindergarten, and then ate cake.
Mountain View Bike Ride
On Wednesday David and I took our bikes to Mountain View for a Stevens Creek to Shoreline Trail ride. The trail was mostly paved, flat, devoid of other bikers, and meandered around NASA, Google, Palo Alto airfield, and Shoreline Amphitheatre.

Villa Montalvo
Recently we took a hike with Uncle David on trails around Villa Montalvo. If anyone says you can't get lost in the hills of Saratoga, we can now prove them wrong. But one hidden newspaper art project and a bee sting later (me), we took pictures around the historic home before having lunch in Los Gatos.

Pill bug
Sow bug, pill bug, rolly-polly, whatever: Nate and cousin Grace caught yet another pill pug for Nate's jar. This time it was something new. The extremely large and lumbering pill bug was apparently a mother carrying a multitude of white, almost translucent, babies on its belly. My macro lense captured it all in full bug glory.

Rocking out
So hot outside we had to do some indoor crafts, after getting in the hot car to buy a bag of rubber bands...the kids were agreeable and excited though. Nate has recently been fascinated with guitars so we went ahead and sprung the big bucks to launch what I can only think will be an adventurous musical career. The pair make a dynamic duo/duet/dance team.

Hops
Given the hops shortage, and our recent burst of gardening, it was only prudent to plant our own hops plant. Here it is. Huh. Not too exciting. It was planted vertically in the soil a couple of weeks ago, and still no shoots. If it wakes up and everything goes well, we should have 9 feet of plant and several beer-batches worth of hops flowers.
