Birthday Bash

Saturday we celebrated David & John's birthday, along with belated birthday to Dan (his 40th!) and Nate from the day before. Too many presents, lots of cake, and just enough balloon play.

Gina bought Dan Zanes' "Catch That Train" and Loch Lomond, a traditional Scottish song, is Nate's favorite. This morning and for the past week he's been singing the lyrics as he plays.

A Ruthless Bargainer

Started off the day at the Farmer's Market in downtown Redwood City. Pretty hot already at 10am. Train station is right across the street from the market and Nate's day was made as a train pulled in right as we got to the market.

Down on the Farm

Hidden Villa Farm in Los Altos Hills with Grandmom and Uncle Dan. The rooster's cockle-doodle-doo was the big hit and finding chickens and eggs in the hen house!

Nate Telling a Story: "Once upon a time..."

In case it's hard to hear, the answers to "How old are you?" were from Nate "Three in June!" and Julie "I'm TWO!" She apparently doesn't like the idea of being one.

Honestly, she was more interested in the ice cream (her loss). Notice the lack of high chair now, and she can now get up & down on her own.

Haircut Time

After Nate, we put Julie on the chair (at her request) and pretended to cut away the curls. Both of them wanted to admire themselves in the mirror when we were done. 

Blackberry Picking at Webb Ranch

Today we got an early start and headed out to Webb Ranch, a farm tucked between Stanford and the nearby foothills. We broke out the buckets and did our first ever blackberry picking. It was still early in the season, but we did end up with almost four pounds in our buckets and nearly the same amount in our tummies...you know, sampled for quality control. Julie and Nate were both pros, and didn't need much help finding the ripe ones. Afterwards we celebrated our bounty at City Pub for lunch, took a walk around the block, and finished planting our garden seeds. Next up for tomorrow: making blackberry pie!
