To keep boredom at bay, we signed the kids up for camps on the weeks we weren't traveling (or recuperating from traveling). It all started with Camp Galileo at Stanley Middle School with Nate doing Minecraft mod coding and Julie a cooking class. Later they did multiple class days for one week at the Crucible in Oakland. Julie: miniature clay sculpting and electronic gizmo making; Nate wood turning and blacksmithing. Those were long days, but probably the most interesting of all the camps. On the final week of summer, Nate went with his neighbor friend Sy to take a week's lesson of sailing on a Coronado 18' in the Berkeley marina. Of course, those were the days the fog decided to roll in, which apparently didn't stop them from jumping off the boat the last day.
