Our mid-break getaway was to modest hotel in Pacific Grove and a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We knew rain was coming later in the week, so we took advantage of the warm sun to spend most of our time poking around the nearby pristine tidepools. Our wind-swept and tuckered out kids kept it together long enough for us to have a fancy sunset dinner at Chart House on the water.
