Blue Angels
During Fleet Week, the day Gina returned from visiting Len & Dave, I took the kids up to the city to watch the Blue Angels with some friends, as well as celebrate Oktoberfest at their house. A perfect San Francisco day.

Hey Bro!
Was so great to see Len and Dave last week. I think it's been 7 or 8 years since I've been down to the Ranch at Cucamonga... It was a really fun, relaxing time just being with you guys. Thank you for the black widow extermination tricks. I hope to never have to employ them but will relay to Michael your foolproof techniques.

Pastorino's Farm
For the third or fourth year in a row, we left early to visit Pastorino's Farm in Half Moon Bay for our pumpkins. This year it was strictly business with Nate and Julie: three tiny pumpkins each (and I mean TINY, some grape sized) and no rides. Nate ventured into the animal petting area to harrass some chickens, ducks, rabbits, and goats, but we were home by lunchtime. My favorite part was watching the hour-long backup into Half Moon Bay as we sailed home.
We're moving
After several years of looking, we unexpectedly found a house that seemed to offer everything in Lafayette (Burton Park neighborhood). Despite it being a ranch house, which I swore I'd never own, it seems to be the perfect blend that seemed to elude us for so long. In a good school district and small town, yet only 30 minutes by BART to San Francisco. Lots of families in walking distance nearby, but secluded backyard with serene quiet and privacy. Lots of trees and open space around, and yet great easy biking trail access to schools and downtown. And it doesn't hurt that Lafayette is building a huge 3-story new library scheduled to open later this year and a Whole Foods grocery store. I'm looking forward to moving in November and to getting to know a whole new set of school parents. We'll miss Redwood City, especially everyone at Orion Elementary and Beresford Montessori, but we look forward to putting new roots down without worrying about future schools or how to share one bathroom.
