Ballet Class
Gina took Julie to her first ballet class on Monday. And she loved it, of course. Nate also had his first week of dancing classes on Wednesday, sans the leotard.

Uvas Canyon Waterfall Hike
After reading a story in the SF Chronicle, we drove down to the Uvas Canyon County Park to walk the one mile waterfall loop. While our camera could never quite capture the serenity, we found it one of the most beautiful hikes we've done in years. And Nate and Julie did a great job hiking, only needing to be carried across the wet streams.

Mount Shasta
On the final days of our holiday trip, we stayed overnight again in Ashland then drove past Mount Shasta and the cinder cone just as it cleared, the first blue sky we had seen in days. There's always something magical about that area. At Nate's request, we pulled over to let them enjoy a few inches of fresh popcorn snow (eating, throwing) before hitting one last lunch, and then finally home.
Playing with Katherine
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at cousin Katherine's (thanks Dave & Chris!) The kids were fully occupied terrorizing and being unnecessarily terrorized by Hudson, the new lovable lose-limbed lab. Nate and Hudson both enjoyed the snow fort, and Julie found herself old enough to pal around with Katherine.
Seattle
The day after Christmas, we reluctantly said goodbye to Nate and Julie's Grandma & Grandpa and drove to Fremont for some lunch and troll visiting. Our room at the Alexis had a great waterfront view which we soaked in before a glutonous steak dinner at the Manhattan Grill. The following day we visited Elliot Bay Bookstore in Pioneer Square before heading to Dave & Chris' house.

Portland OMSI
We braved rains to check out the huge and interesting OMSI near the Porland river front. We tried going to the Antartica IMAX show (too scary for Nate), and after doing some crafts and petting some walking sticks, we grabbed a quick lunch. We should have spent more time in the turbine exhibit...next time we'll start there, and hit the submarine tour.
